Best access panel for soundproof wall?
Building a home studio and want to keep the wall as soundproof as possible while still having access to electrical boxes and some plumbing runs behind it. Need a panel that seals reasonably well and doesn’t create an obvious weak spot for sound leakage. Any tips or products?

Soundproofing with an access panel is tricky but doable. The key is getting one with a really tight gasket or weatherstrip around the door edge to minimize air gaps. Avoid cheap thin panels—they rattle and leak sound like crazy. I went with a heavier-duty version that has acoustic-friendly foam tape already applied to the frame. After caulking the perimeter and adding mass-loaded vinyl behind it, the difference was noticeable. Painted with acoustic paint it blends right in. I installed a solid access panel for drywall last month and it’s held up without any noticeable sound flanking so far. Just make sure to over-caulk and test with a tone generator if you’re serious about isolation.
